A new Digital Pen called the Live Pen 2 is now available to replace the old DP201 (Also know as Live Pen 1). The new Live Pen 2 main features are:

  • Improved ergonomics with built-in OLED display
  • Touch-enabled grip for automatic switch-on
  • A new USB docking station that also charges the pen
  • Pen Lanyard with holder for two ink refills – the same ink refills as used with the DP201

InphoActive supplies two Enterprise Digital Pen server solutions. In both cases updates are required to the server and pen client device router elements to support the Live Pen 2. The older DP201 is still supported on both server types, as are existing non-encrypted forms and the form printing.

Open Source Server Solution

  • The Open Source solution is available now with client routers for Iphone 4s+ and IPAD 3+ on IOS 7.1+. Also for Android phones and tablets on at least 4.2.x+. Both introduce much improved workforce feedback options with photo attach by default and the ability to view an ink image of the form on the device.
  • An updated Windows PC router is also available and is required to use the Live Pen 2. This router is backwards compatible with the DP201.
  • Existing older style routers for Windows PC, older Nokia, and older Blackberry handsets  are available but this support will be removed at the next new release due later in 2015. We encourage users to review their handsets used for mobile routing.
  • The solution is only supplied on 64 bit RedHat/Centos 6 so your base server may need upgraded.
  • The Digital Pen application on the server will also need updated to support the Live Pen 2. As a bonus this update brings in a much improved tablet forms solution on IPAD and Android.

Microsoft Server Solution

  • The Microsoft server solution is due soon with client routers for Iphone, Android devices, and some older Blackberry devices.
  • An updated Windows PC router is also available and is required to use the Live Pen 2. This router is backwards compatible with the DP201.
  • The solution is planned to be computable with Windows Server 2003 but we strongly encourage users to take into account the End-of-Life for Windows Server 2003 on the 14th July 2015 and look at updating to a 64 bit Microsoft server platform.
  • The solution on the server will also need updated to support Live Pen 2.

Digital Pen and Paper Combined With TELER Utilised in Award- Winning Research Project For Woundcare By Patients From Home

Author: hugh@inphoactive.com Tags: There is no tags Comments: 0 Date: 29 Apr 2013

The Digital Pen and paper is making great progress in UK medical applications. inphoActive already has a nursing application for Tissue Viability.

Here patients were given digital pens and bespoke digital paper forms to use at home to record their daily scores and levels of comfort by simply ticking a box on the form. Upon docking the pen, the information was transmitted directly to the TELER portal for the research team at King’s College to analyse and determine potential changes to their treatment plan.

Digital writing is increasingly being adopted for home patient monitoring because of its numerous benefits such as ease of use and instant transmission of patient information. Digital writing does not require significant user training like other technologies such as laptops, tablets, and others. The result is much greater efficiencies including more accurate information at lower costs that not only benefit the bottom line; but result in improvements in caring for patients and much less time processing paperwork.
