inphoActive goes stateside

October 2008

inphoActive is participating in an international trade mission to the west coast of the USA at the end of October 2008, supported by InvestNI. The purpose of the visit is to assist individual businesses in undertaking market research and support to those seeking to develop new business relationships and partnerships. The trip will also include a UK Dept of Trade and Industry event at the Consul General’s Residence in San Francisco and a hosted reception with the Silicon Valley Irish Technology Leadership Group.

inphoActive is off to mainland Europe

inphoActive is taking part in the Benelux Trade Development Programme supported by Newtownabbey Borough Council.

The Programme is a major initiative which seeks to provide owner-managers with the opportunity of establishing business relationships and opportunities in the Benelux markets – Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg. These business opportunities may include developing export sales, identifying new partners and viewing best practice.

The Programme will run between June 2008 and December 2008

inphoActive appoint Des Vincent as non-executive director

October 26th, 2007

inphoActive, a Belfast- based, leading digital pen and paper solutions provider, are delighted to announce that Des Vincent has joined the board of the company as a non-executive director.

Des retired as Director of the Central IT Unit in the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) in September 2003. CITU(NI) had responsibility for IS/IT policy particularly in relation to the implementation of electronic government services in Northern Ireland. The media often referred to Des as the E-Envoy for Northern Ireland.

Des spent his entire career in the IT discipline including a number of years with the international department of a commercial bank in Toronto, Canada. He was seconded to the private sector from the NICS for a period as the Chief Executive of the Software Industry Federation for Northern Ireland. Subsequently in his role as a Director of this organisation he was Chairman of the Software Training Council for Northern Ireland. In 2002 he was co-opted to the Board of Momentum, the trade association for the ICT sector in Northern Ireland. As a Director of Momentum, Des was nominated to chair the Centre for Software Processing Technologies at the University of Ulster, a position which he held for 3 years.

He is a past Chairman of the Belfast Branch of the British Computer Society (BCS) and served for a term on BCS National Council. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and was a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Ulster. He is a private member of the all party Parliamentary IT Committee (PITCOM) at Westminster and a member of the Advisory Council of the Commonwealth Centre for Electronic Governance.

In January 1998 Des was presented with the IT Professional of the Year Award by the British Computer Society in recognition of the significant contribution which he made to IT in Northern Ireland. In 2004 the International Council for IT in government administration representing 25 nations, presented him with a Distinguished Service Award for superior leadership and outstanding service.

Des was a regular speaker on the introduction of electronic government services and addressed international conferences in Australia, Canada, Europe, Korea, Singapore and the United States. He is an adviser on the curriculum for an MSc in Innovation Management in the Public Service at the University of Ulster and is a guest lecturer on that course.
